Gardeners

South Ayrshire

Gardeners is a detached stone cottage with real character, built to last and set within the expansive grounds of Cloncaird Castle near Kirkmichael. The property sits on 113 acres of mixed woodland and open space beside the River Girvan, a setting that feels both private and deeply rural. A lawned front garden with a sitting area opens directly onto these grounds, where woodland walks and on-site fishing are available to guests.

Inside, the open-plan ground floor combines living, dining and kitchen areas around a working fireplace—initial logs are supplied. A breakfast bar, electric oven and hob, dishwasher and full fridge-freezer mean you can cook properly or keep things simple; Freeview TV is available in the living room. Upstairs, two bedrooms sleep four: one has a zip-and-link super king bed (which can be split into two singles on request), and the other has two single beds. A single shower room serves both. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included; oil underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm. One dog stays free, though it must be kept on leads as the grounds are sheep country. A travel cot and highchair can be arranged.

Kirkmichael village is just over a mile away, with a shop and pub. Maybole and Kirkoswald nearby offer more choice for eating and shopping. The Ayrshire coast lies within 10 miles, with sandy beaches and coastal paths. Culzean Castle (Robert Adam's clifftop design), Dumfries House and several ruined castles are within reach for a day out. Private parking for two cars is on site.
