Grooms sits within the grounds of 15th-century Cloncaird Castle, surrounded by 113 acres of estate land that includes woodland, gardens, a pond and the River Girvan. The cottage sleeps six across three double bedrooms, each with its own ensuite shower room. Downstairs, an open-plan living space combines a sitting area with an open fire, a dining space and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and all the basics. An additional toilet is separate. Parking for two cars is on site.
The grounds offer fishing rights on the river and walking routes through the woodland. Kirkmichael village, just over a mile away, has a shop and pub; larger towns with restaurants and cafés are nearby. The Ayrshire coast lies within 10 miles, dotted with sandy beaches and coastal villages. Historic sites pepper the region: Culzean Castle with its clifftop setting, Dumfries House with its Chippendale collections, and the ruins of Dunure, Turnberry and Greenan castles are all within reach. Turnberry Resort, known for golf and spa facilities, is close by. One dog can stay free. The cottage is non-smoking, and bedrooms are heated via underfloor heating with towels and linen provided; Wi-Fi and electricity are included, along with initial fuel for the fire.
