Tack Room

The Tack Room is a converted stable block on the grounds of 15th-century Cloncaird Castle near Kirkmichael. Two double bedrooms, each with its own shower room, sleep four people in a whole property to yourselves. Downstairs is an open-plan living and dining space with a working fireplace; upstairs, both bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that can be split into singles if needed. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob and dishwasher among its appliances. Underfloor heating and electricity are included, along with bed linen, towels and an initial load of logs for the burner.

One dog stays free and can accompany you on the estate's woodland walks and beside the River Girvan, though they need to stay on a lead in the sheep country. There is fishing on-site, and the grounds stretch to 113 acres with a pond and river 200 yards away. Kirkmichael has a shop and pub within a mile; Maybole and Kirkoswald are nearby for more choice. The Ayrshire coast, with its beaches and trails, sits within 10 miles. Off-site parking is provided for two cars. Smoking is not permitted inside.
