Fern Lodge sits within the National Forest, a landscape of reclaimed woodland and countryside that draws walkers and cyclists. The lodge itself is compact and single-storey: a kingsize bedroom with an ensuite shower, open-plan living and dining space, and a kitchen fitted with electric hob and combi oven. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. There is private parking for two cars and a patio with garden furniture outside.
The location works well for couples seeking peace and access to outdoor space without fuss. Footpaths lead directly into the forest from the property. Beyond that, the Peak District is a short drive away, offering market towns like Bakewell and Matlock, plus country houses including Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Closer by, Calke Abbey and Staunton Harold reservoir are within reach. The village of Melbourne, with its shops, restaurants and pubs, is nearby. Note that smoking is not permitted inside.

What guests say
Wooden lodge-style one bed single storey accommodation with a small patio at the rear. Comfortable and in a quiet location about 30 mins walk out of Melbourne. Reasonably well equipped, though shower gel or at least soap in the bathroom would be appreciated as would an information folder on how to use heating, hob etc.
