South Allington Barns – Coachman's lodge occupies the countryside between Kingsbridge and the sea, in an area of working farms and rural quiet. The property is a modernised barn conversion offering three bedrooms and two bathrooms across two floors, sleeping up to six. A kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower sits on the first floor; upstairs are a twin-bedded room and a bunk-bedded room sharing a family bathroom with bath and shower. Ground level includes a combined kitchen and dining space with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and washer-dryer, plus a separate cloakroom and sitting room with Freeview television and DVD player.

The rear garden has furniture and a barbecue, and you have use of a tennis court and croquet lawn on the wider grounds. Off-road parking accommodates three cars with additional space available. One dog is welcome provided it stays on a lead – this is sheep country. Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered. The beach lies roughly a mile away, and Kingsbridge itself, with its market-town shops and restaurants, is within easy reach. No smoking indoors.

Me and some friends camped here for a couple nights and thoroughly enjoyed the stay - the facilities were all in good condition with hot showers and a very clean toilet / shower block. All the facilities needed were available including washing up sinks, plug sockets for hair dryers / phone chargers, freezer etc. It would be worth noting there is no internet connection on site but that wasn’t a major issue for us. Short drive into numerous beaches nearby - do need to use one lane, small country roads but again, this wasn’t a huge issue as fairly quiet roads and numerous passing points. A huge bonus was the stunning grounds where you camp with sheep in the nearby field and picturesque pond and wildlife. Would definitely recommend :)

We camped. Location/setting good, You can walk to the coast or nearest pub/shop from the house using either the road or footpaths. Toilet/shower block as norm. A bit worn but cleaned every day, plenty of toilet roll and hot showers. It's a lovely small camp site. Only downside was no WiFi but I'm not really quite sure how much that really matters!! If you don't like narrow country lanes, this site is not for you.

I spent many childhood holidays here. Some of my fondest memorises it’s been a few years since I’ve had the chance to visit I now have a child of my own and hope to share many more memories here. Back to the actual place itself when I last visited it was run by a family the very kind lady of the house was called Barbara she was such a kind and tentative host. She accommodated mine and my many questions and always welcomed us into the kitchen to help and to of course see Barney their lovely doggy at the time. I believe it was her partner and sons that tended the land and kept the place looking stunning it was the first place I fished at their lake and the first and only place I got to play croquet and we love it as kids. The sound of pigeons in the morning to this day takes me back to this very place. It’s a happy place that I often visit in my mind at least. Stunning land there were these lovely trees that bared a rope swing we spent many hours taking turns meeting other kids here. Playing frisbee and hide and seek. Fantastic secluded beach not far away, family activities local too. Peaceful retreat for parents and an amazing adventure for kids a family break that won’t be forgotten.
