About Premier Inn Southampton Cumberland Place
With 146 rooms spread over four floors, Premier Inn Southampton Cumberland Place is one of the larger city-centre options in Southampton, set on Cumberland Place within easy reach of the Mayflower Theatre and SeaCity Museum. Rooms are en-suite with air conditioning, and there are accessible rooms available for those who need them; guests generally find them spacious and quiet with comfortable beds, though some rooms have been reported as showing their age and could do with better upkeep.
The hotel has its own restaurant and bar, with breakfast and dinner both served on site and described as a highlight of the stay by many who visit. A 24 hour reception and lift access add convenience, and rooms come with drinks available on request. Parking is not included at the hotel itself but chargeable parking can be found nearby.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the central location means pubs, restaurants and eateries are all within walking distance, with fishing also available nearby for those wanting something different. It's a straightforward, well-placed base for exploring Southampton, best suited to those who prioritise location and service over polish.
What guests say
The rooms are very tired. A/C was great! Bathroom very tired, mould in bath surround, blistered plastic panel, don't check the plug hole! Shower ok, but a nightmare to climb over bath side. Breakfast not refilled enough, so go early for natural yoghurt! Coffee machine/s disgusting coffee and no decaf. Young staff very helpful and sweet, but don't have necessary info given to them. e.g. why are prices for breakfasts on booking, different in the room ad and in restaurant when paid in person? "Food not all that good" (Husband on his cooked breakfast) I had 2 mornings Continental get there early times are 6.30am - 10.30. Ground floor toilet gross and no loo paper or hand wash or paper towels and handle on one cubicle falling off. Location really good, but needs a good refit, blackout curtains are no good with holes in them!

Easy to find from the station, staff lovely, we had dinner and Maria and Chris were very busy but took time to speak to everyone. The bartender was excellent didn’t get his name but wore a black and white bandana. He made me two lovely cocktails. The bed and room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was hot and you could just sit and relax.

Really nice hotel in a good location close to city center services and shops. The hotel room was clean and spacious. Friendly service. It was nice that there were also vegetarian/vegan options available at breakfast. The breakfast selection was not extensive, but sufficient for us.

We have stayed here several times now and use it as a base. Friendly welcoming staff, clean and tidy, lovely food and bar area. From the lady who checked us in (sorry did not get name) and to the barman/front of house who (again sorry did not get name) and to Maria who served us dinner (who was a lovely, polite and helpful young woman). We will be back again.
