Burnside Caravan Park

Burnside Caravan Site, Fochabers IV32 7ET, UK

Small, quiet park at Fochabers where the Spey nears the sea

About Burnside Caravan Park

Burnside Caravan Park is a small, family-run site at Fochabers, near the lower end of the River Spey where the valley opens out towards the Moray Firth coast. It offers a quieter, less touristy alternative to the busier sites further up Speyside, while still sitting on the route of the Speyside Way.

Pitches are available for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, with electric hook-up on most, along with a modest but clean amenities block and laundry facilities. The park's small size and family management give it a relaxed, low-key feel, and its position makes it a useful base for combining a Speyside whisky trip with the Moray coast towns of Buckie, Lossiemouth and Findhorn.

Dogs are welcome and the site is popular with couples and small families looking for a straightforward, well-priced base rather than a resort-style park. Fochabers itself is known for its antique shops and the Baxters food visitor centre nearby, adding a food and shopping dimension to a stay here beyond whisky and walking.

Rachel Bradbury

Burnside Caravan Park is honestly one of the loveliest family-friendly sites we’ve found in Scotland so far. From the moment we arrived, the lady on reception made us feel so welcome - genuinely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She had so much lovely knowledge about the local area which she was happy to share with us. This place has such a personal, relaxed feel compared to some of the larger holiday parks. The whole site was clean & tidy including what are probably the best showers we’ve come across yet in Scotland!! Hot water, warm (not open draughty old blocks) spotlessly clean individual shower cubicles with a changing area and none of the dreaded push buttons in sight! Perfect for families too — there’s a little stream, a large play area and a woodland den area for the kids to explore, and even toys left out in the park which felt like such a thoughtful touch. It’s those small details that make a place feel really special. The town itself is lovely too — with a great fish and chip shop, a Co-op, ice-cream parlour and the Highland Folk Museum all within walking distance, which made it such an easy and relaxed stay with kids. It’s the kind of campsite you book once and end up returning to year after year. A lovely peaceful base for exploring the Highlands and somewhere we’d happily come back to again. Would highly recommend.

Lovely location in woodland. Short walk into town. Showers and toilets are pristine. Very friendly owner. Camped this time with a tent but will be back again with my camper van.
