About Culdearn House

Culdearn House is a Victorian villa on a quiet residential road at the edge of Grantown-on-Spey, run as a small guest house with a strong emphasis on personal attention and home cooking rather than hotel-scale facilities.

Rooms are individually furnished in a traditional style, and dinner, where offered, is cooked to order using local produce, often served to just a handful of guests at a time. The house sits a short walk from Grantown's main square and the River Spey.

Its quiet setting and small scale suit couples and older travellers wanting a personal welcome, with Grantown's shops and restaurants close by and the wider Speyside whisky trail within easy driving distance.

We couldn't have asked for a nicer base for exploring the Highlands. Sonia and William were wonderful hosts, offering everything from advice on things to see to a much appreciated cocktail before dinner. Our room was spacious, well-appointed and immaculately clean with many small touches that demonstrated both their experience and hospitality. And the breakfasts and dinners were consistently excellent, showcasing the best of local meat, fish and produce. A truly lovely experience.

Culdearn House -- and its hosts, Sonia and William -- personify all that is good about the Scottish countryside. Gracious, warm, cozy, helpful, the entire experience was fantastic. The rooms are beautifully decorated and well-appointed with comfy robes and quality toiletries. And it would be hard to over state how delicious Sonia's breakfasts and dinners are, local delicacies prepared on a decades-old Aga stove and served to the highest standards. Highly recommend the Culdearn House as a base in the Speyside area.

This was a really great stay. The room and hotel are absolutely immaculate an every comfortable. I travel a great deal and this place has a really wonderful home feeling and was relaxing. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I stayed 2 nights and the dinner each night was truly amazing. You can tell they are using the best possible local ingredients and it shows thru in their simplistic cooking style unlike most restaurants that over do it. Breakfast was also amazing both hot food, fruits and cereals. Truly a great experience and will definitely stay again.

This was our 3rd trip to Culdearn House - we stayed for 2 nights in November visiting the cashmere sales and everything was perfect again - beautiful rooms, super comfy beds, welcoming, accommodating staff, lovely fire, fabulous food. Please continue the wonderful work you are doing Sonia and William as it really is top drawer!!
