About Ardgowan Hotel
A steakhouse restaurant and bar sit at the centre of the Ardgowan Hotel, giving the place a proper focal point beyond just a bed for the night. Breakfast is served each morning, drinks can be brought to your room, and the 24 hour reception means arrivals and requests are never tied to a fixed schedule.
The hotel itself is made up of two 19th-century buildings, with 29 rooms kept simple and given a Scottish touch through tartan detailing. Every room has an en-suite bathroom, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. It is a straightforward, unfussy base rather than a design showpiece, which suits guests who want comfort without extra frills.
St Andrews itself offers golf and fishing nearby, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach, and watersports for those wanting to get out on the water. Leuchars station lies a short drive away, and Dundee Airport is also within reach for onward travel.

What guests say
This is my second time visiting St. Andrews, and I feel choosing this place was the right decision. The front desk staff, in particular, were very warm and friendly. Noticing that I had a lot of luggage, the female receptionist at the front desk kindly helped carry it upstairs and delivered it to my room door. She was very considerate. The room is spacious, well-equipped, and provided an excellent stay experience. Highly recommended!

4 of us stayed for 2 nights from Friday 15th March 2024 for a golf weekend. Pleasant welcome from the reception and check-in handled well. Rooms are clean and pleasant enough, just a bit on the small side. The location of this hotel is great, you are on the doorstep to everything for St Andrews centre / golf courses. The one thing that really let down the stay was the Scottish Breakfast. The one rasher of bacon was dry, the potato scone like rubber, the beans "value" version, bread just not fresh, the single link sausage just lukewarm. This was the same for the 3 Scottish breakfasts ordered. I have stayed in the Ardgowan a number of times before and the breakfast was one of the things that was very good, but not this time. Maybe cutting back on the breakfast standard to save money!? Don't think I would go back.

Warning.... As it tells you on their website this hotel isn't accessible for unfit, disabled or elderly as it has no lift. We enjoyed our stay, the bed was comfy and the room was very clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. We were disappointed in the breakfast, especially myself with the eggs Benedict (boiled eggs not poached) and was just very basic. Suppose value for money I would say wasn't great considering what we paid for one night stay. But comfy bed and friendly staff made the stay fine for us.

What a lovely hotel ❤ The staff are welcoming and efficient. Our bedroom was gorgeous, warm and comfortable. Especially nice getting in there after a day out in the damp weather. Breakfast, pre-ordered the night before, was hot and tasty. Again, the staff were efficient and welcoming. A minor suggestion would be to have a shower curtain rather than the screen as the shower was powerful and the spray went everywhere! Bathroom toiletries were quality and plentiful. Beds were warm and comfortable. Overall we had a lovely stay and look forward to visiting again. Hotel is in a perfect location for golf, shopping, cafes, bars and restaurants ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
