About Rusacks St Andrews
Rusacks has stood above the eighteenth fairway of the Old Course since 1887 and is one of the defining buildings on the St Andrews skyline. A thorough restoration under the Marine & Lawn group added a contemporary wing without disturbing the original sandstone frontage, and the result is a hotel that feels properly historic while behaving like a new one.
The interiors lean into golf history without becoming a museum, with dark panelling, tartan, archive photography and a good deal of memorabilia. Front-facing rooms look straight down the closing hole and across the West Sands, and the best of them are among the most sought-after in Scottish golf; the rear and courtyard rooms are quieter and considerably cheaper.
Food and drink are unusually strong for a hotel of this size. 18 is the rooftop restaurant, with a terrace that takes in the whole sweep of the links and the bay, while Rao's brings the long-established New York Italian kitchen to Scotland in a clubby ground-floor room. The Bridge handles all-day drinking and lighter meals, and Room 116 is a small whisky bar. Everything in the old town is within a ten-minute walk.

Lovely location! Rooms are a little dated and the lighting is very dim. We had an issue with our TV which we told the front desk about, but unfortunately it never ended up getting resolved which was super disappointing. There aren't that many vegetarian options, which is a little disappointing. The staff at dinner was great and the chef went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely eggless vegetarian dinner. Breakfast was lovely too, but the the service was slow even when it wasn't busy. But all in all, it was a tasty meal.

Very nice rooms. Great views of 18 on the old course - well worth paying extra for the view. Service was great and the breakfast and dinner in the rooftop restaurant 18 are very good.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. The service was impeccable from the front desk and door staff to the restaurant staff. Breakfast was excellent. The location cannot be beat and the rooftop bar was so much fun. I highly recommend this hotel. Great experience!

Rooms are gorgeous and immaculate, reception staff and door staff are phenomenal. Location brilliant. If your only staying in this hotel I would recommend but I would recommend not using the bridge restaurant or snooker table bar, service extremely slow and in experienced for such a high rated hotel and prices it charges. We ate in the bridge restaurant and my friends chicken was raw, we waited a very long time on drinks every time we ordered and we ordered wine and mojitos - worst mojito I’ve ever seen. Overall lovely hotel to stay outwith using the restaurant or bars
