About The Waterwheel Inn
The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are both within easy reach of St Austell, making Bodmin Road a sensible base for anyone touring Cornwall's gardens, and The Waterwheel Inn sits right on this route. Beyond the big attractions, the surrounding area suits walkers and cyclists, and there's a golf course nearby along with pubs and restaurants for evenings out.
The inn itself is adults-only and has 14 rooms, all en-suite with free WiFi, and accessible rooms are available for those who need them. Guests can expect free on-site parking, a bar, and a restaurant serving breakfasts cooked to order alongside generous evening meals. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable, and drinks can be brought straight to your room if you'd rather not head down to the bar.
Outside, the grounds include a garden with water features and tropical planting, plus outdoor seating - a quiet spot to unwind after a day exploring. There's also luggage storage, meeting rooms for those combining business with a stay, and staff on hand throughout. Pets are welcome, so the trip doesn't have to mean leaving the dog behind.

What guests say
Fantastic little B&B with beautiful gardens. We chose this place on a whim rather than driving home from the Eden Project. It's a cozy, friendly little place; evening meal was tasty with good portions. The included breakfast in the conservatory was superb with great coffee. It's worth taking a walk down the gardens which has ponds and a stream fed by a natural spring.

Stayed for two nights in May, mainly to visit the Eden Project. The Waterwheel was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. Room (room 4) was on the smaller side but it was clean and had a superb view of the garden. Bed was comfortable and although the place was just off a main road it was quiet during the night, so we both got a good nights sleep. Shower was great. Breakfast was really good and sufficient to set us up for the day. Service was great, staff were friendly and suggested booking directly with the then next time we stayed as we would get a better rate. The gardens are outstanding and were like a small offshoot of Eden. We didn't manage to explore all of the garden but hopefully will do so next time we stay. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we were out and about, but plan on doing so in the future. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and will be staying again in the future.

A fabulous place to stay. Rooms are excellent, the gardens are wonderful, they love animals so you can bring your dog and the food is fabulous. The staff are excellent and make your stay a joy. Lots of interesting things to do in the surrounding area but you will need a car as not really walkable to go anywhere.

The Waterwheel provided the most exceptional stay and the staff went above and beyond to help us and make sure we had everything we needed. This was a last minute reservation that was booked when we had a terrible Airbnb experience. We arrived at 9 pm after driving a long way and were greeted warmly by Donna at check-in. We knew their restaurant had already closed, so we asked for a suggestion as to where we could get a quick bite. Donna ran out back and got the chef, who said he'd be happy to stay and make us a meal! Donna then personally took us up to our lovely rooms and showed us where everything was. Our meals were fantastic and we were so well taken care of. They include a delicious breakfast. The grounds are gorgeous and there are lots of places to sit and relax outside. Donna also provided excellent recommendations of where to visit in the area. We can't thank everyone enough for making our stay amazing and going above and beyond! Wish we could stay longer!
