About The White House at The Tinners Arms

The White House at The Tinners Arms suits travellers walking the South West Coast Path or exploring the country near Zennor Quoit who want somewhere unfussy and adult-only to rest at the end of the day. This isn't a spot for families or for anyone needing to park a car outside the door, as there's no parking available, but for walkers heading between Zennor and St Ives it sits conveniently on the route.

There are five en-suite rooms above the pub, kept simple, with breakfast included and drinks available in room. Downstairs, the bar is the heart of the place, with a fireplace, outdoor seating in the garden, and regular folk music adding to the atmosphere. The kitchen has a good reputation for hearty pub food such as fish and chips, beef stew and mussels, served in generous portions, and the staff are consistently friendly and attentive.

Free WiFi is available throughout, and pets are welcome, making it a practical stop for those travelling with a dog along the coast. Fishing, walking areas, and further pubs, restaurants and entertainment can all be found nearby, with St Ives itself within reach for anyone wanting a change of scene.

Just when I wrote a bad review on fish and chips I had at Galleon Inn (Fowey) I suddenly remembered about the nice fish and chips that I always ordered at Tinners Arms. The fish and chips is excellent - good value, large, fresh , well cooked (I used to rate it as the best until I tried the one in Charles Town harbour -best but small, ) and so as the crab salads. Service is always great and there is a very ancient looking fire place inside to keep everybody warm. They also sell delicious ice cream outside the entrance. It is nice to sit outside in summer and the birds are really friendly and will feed in your hand. The coastal walk behind the pub have fantastic view.

Had to stop in at the Tinner's on our annual coastal path trip as it's probably one of the most famous pubs on the route and I'm sure glad we did. We had the local brew with a lovely plate of chilli & rice with cheese and sour cream, great fuel for our journey. A warm welcome greeted us and if you're in the area I'd really recommend visiting. We even had a visit from a friendly local chaffinch.
