The West Hill Lift is one of the most interesting attractions in Hastings. It was built in the late 19th century, and retains its original wooden coaches. From the "station" on George Street in the old town, the railway ascends in a tunnel within the hill, setting it apart from other funicular railways. It provides convenient access to the attractions of West Hill, including Hastings Castle, the caves (Smugglers Adventure), as well as the excellent views over the old town and coastline. On a clear day it's possible to see Beachy Head from West Hill. Tickets are quite reasonably priced for a memorable and impressively smooth ride. They're sold as a compulsory return, so it's worth travelling both ways as you'll have paid to. The operation was seamless, with little waiting time and easy payment by card. The ticket office houses information displays covering the history of the railway, and a small gift shop. The East Hill Cliff Railway offers a distinctly different experience, with outstanding views over the beach while ascending the dramatic cliff. As a pair, they're one of the most appealing attractions in Hastings.

Had a fabulous experience at West Hill lift . tickets were £5.50 both ways and the ride was very smooth. The ride was about two minutes in each direction. At the top there is West Hill, which offers a Majestic views of the English channel. There are remnants of an ancient Norman Fort at the top. There’s also a beautiful park and residential buildings and play structure. In addition, there are restrooms as well as a café, which is open seasonally great overall. I highly recommend.

In Hastings for the day so had to go on the funicular. It was £4, up and down. Quite busy, popular attraction. Lovely views at the top and you can visit the castle if you wish. Mainly ruins now, there is a charge to enter.

A unique experience going up the lift to admire the cliff views and sea with nearby benches. The price for the ticket also is for returning back down so it is not too bad for the price. Also, being accessible for people who would struggle with walking up the steep hill.
