About The Ship and Castle Hotel
Fifty-four rooms make The Ship and Castle Hotel one of the larger places to stay in St Mawes, and its position on the Waterfront means many of them look straight out over the water. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and family rooms are available for those travelling in a group, with drinks and room service on hand for a quieter evening in.
Guests eat at the on-site restaurant or snack bar, with breakfast included and packed lunches available for days spent out on the water or along the coast path. There's a bar for the evenings, a lift for easier access around the building, and luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Pets are welcome, though there is no parking at the property, so those arriving by car will need to make separate arrangements.
The waterfront setting puts fishing, watersports, cycling and walking all within easy reach, alongside pubs and restaurants nearby for exploring beyond the hotel itself. It's a straightforward base for a Cornish coastal stay, built around its view rather than extras.
Guests mention this hotel offers comfortable rooms, some with great views, and a good standard of food with varied choices. They also highlight the friendly and helpful staff, especially the bar and restaurant managers.
Some reviews mention there can be noise issues.
