About Sunset Tree Camping
Sunset Tree Camping brings festival vibes to the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, less than half an hour from Ashdown Forest. This off-grid, eco-conscious retreat centres on connection and community, with a communal firepit, picnic benches tucked among the trees, and solar lighting that gives the woodland a magical glow after dark. Families love the relaxed atmosphere and space for children to roam—there are bats, balls, bikes and scooters to borrow, plus a hammock in the Dragon Woods for lazier moments. Guests praise the excellent facilities, including hot showers, clean composting toilets, cooking stoves and a sheltered eating area with a four-metre banquet table.
The on-site Sunrise Café serves tasty breakfasts (bacon and sausage rolls, plus veggie and gluten-free options), while two pubs sit on the village green in Staplefield, just ten minutes' walk away. Nymans, a National Trust garden with atmospheric house ruins, is a 25-minute stroll. Back at camp, you're encouraged to lend a hand co-creating the site's 'enchanted village'—or simply join fellow campers around the fire for stargazing and storytelling.

What visitors say
I loved this campsite! There was a friendly welcome from the owners, there were good facilities for cooking, and I loved the fairy lights strung in the trees at night. Also loved the fact that there were loads of kids, running around, shouting and laughing and just having fun playing with each other. My one suggestion would be to have more showers available, otherwise pitch perfect!

We love this campsite! Easy going vibes, suits couples and families with kids too. Everyone is super friendly and staff are always around to help and chat with you. Been a couple of times now and plan to make it a yearly event now with our friend group and their kids. Just spent two nights there Friday and Saturday bank holiday weekend. They had a breakfast van doing egg, bacon and hash brown rolls, coffee, tea etc both mornings. Plus on the Saturday there was a pizza van which served awesome pizzas 🍕 😀 We saw horses and loads of deer in the next field which was super lovely 💕 Plus they have a pub in walking distance and a hot shower! Thanks for having us Adam 🙏🏻

Recently camped out @ Sunset Tree, with family and friends. The site and facilities were perfect, welcoming, child friendly for all ages, lovely woods for playing in & late night fires & music. The toilets & showers were always clean. The highlight was all the free space on the site, most other campsites cram people in, Sunset Tree respects space - and this is a refreshing approach, which we loved.

We're just back from 2 nights at the Sunset Tree as two families with 3 children aged under 8. We had the most magical time, none of us wanted to leave! Facilities were great. The composting toilets were always clean, stocked with toilet roll and never smelt. Much better than previous campsites 'standard flush' toilets and we were there over a heatwave so you would forgive them if there was a stench but none at all! The kitchens were clean and had a communal stove and kettle, the breakfast van was tasty and stocked well. The kids wood, playground, nocks and football goals kept our kids entertained the whole time and it was very sociable, with them all making friends. There is the most wonderful relaxed, social atmosphere Adds has created, him and Zoe are always on hand to answer questions or for a chat. Genuinely can't recommend enough and can't wait to get back there!
