About Lillium House
Out among the fields at Humble Knowle Farm, on the edge of Stockton-on-Tees, Lillium House offers a quieter alternative to a town-centre stay while still keeping Tees Barrage within easy reach. The surrounding County Durham countryside gives the place a settled, rural feel, with garden views from the property adding to the sense of space.
This is an adults-only B&B, with en-suite rooms, breakfast included, and drinks available in the room for those who want to unwind without heading out. Free WiFi and 24 hour reception cover the practical side, while the garden gives guests somewhere to sit outside. Free on-site parking is provided, which makes arriving by car straightforward.
Nearby options include a golf course, horse riding, and various pubs, bars and restaurants for evening meals, along with other entertainment in the surrounding area. It suits those wanting a peaceful base with the Tees Barrage and County Durham countryside close at hand.
What guests say
Not sure if this is a B&B anymore, but what it is, is an excellent 'off-roading experience'. The public road leading down to the house is less of a road and more of an extreme motorsport challenge. Looks like something resembling a meteor shower. I’ve genuinely never seen potholes like it. Unless you’re arriving in a fully equipped ATV, tank, or perhaps a lunar rover, I’d strongly recommend reconsidering the journey. If you do decide to risk it, make sure your vehicle comes with a fully fitted snorkel—particularly when it rains—so your engine doesn’t drown in what can only be described as the local “pothole lakes.” For the more adventurous drivers, there are also ditches available to test your skills. A couple of travellers sampled those over the winter, though I suspect it wasn’t entirely voluntary. All in all, less “country lane” and more “off-road survival course.”

A good 'off the beaten track' B&B in the Yorkshire countryside. I stayed in a small but comfortable room. The property was clean and homely. Has a shared guest bathroom which was fine as I was the only guest there during my stay. As usual I had a vegetarian breakfast that I ordered the night before. Cooked fresh and very tasty. Great coffee! Great host. Recommended. Important context: My experience was a 1 night stay and does not represent this establishment in it's entirety. No-one in hospitality sets out to provide a poor experience. Anyone can have an off day

Wonderful place, very welcoming owners. I like everything about it. The old style furnishings, the wooden staircase, I family dining table, the Christmas tree, etc. It all says home. For me it felt like staying in a friend’s place not a hotel. The small things were what made me feel comfortable. For example although the room was a single, the bed was wide, there was a large window and a comfortable sofa facing the window to sit and enjoy the lovely view. It had a shared bathroom but it was large and spotless. Had the breakfast in the dining room on a large wodden dining table with proper serving set. Everything was perfect for what I like; the large coffee, the sweetener next to the sugar, the milk instead of creamer, even the radio playing classical music. It just felt so comfortable like home. I travel a lot and stay in many places and I can distinguish between genuine and artificial hospitality. This is as genuine experience as it gets. You really feel the care in the place. Around you see the graduation and family photos. All in all this is one of the most comfortable places I have stayed in. I would recommend it everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Thank you for the owners for making me feel welcome.

Very friendly and helpful. Beautiful, quiet location set in peaceful farmland. The house is gorgeous with great attention to detail. The rooms are spotless, comfortable and cater for every need. This is a family home and as such is clearly cared for and very well maintained. The central staircase is awesome, around which the house has been built. A super base for any visit to this part of the North.
