Bishopsteignton sits between Teignmouth's beaches and Dartmoor's open country, a village of three pubs and a shop tucked into South Devon's quiet corner. Elodie Yurt occupies its own grounds here, a 20-foot timber-framed structure built from a single ash tree, lined with wool and dressed with ornaments salvaged from the Gladiator film set. The single bedroom has a kingsize bed; the open-plan living space contains a wood burner, dining area and kitchenette with a two-ring hob and fridge. Electricity, bed linen and towels are provided, along with an initial basket of logs. The external shower room is heated and private.
The yurt is yours alone, with gated access and parking for one car. A charcoal barbecue and garden furniture sit outside. One dog is welcome, though it must stay on a lead; there is an unfenced stream in the garden. Smoking is not permitted. For a couple wanting something different—not a cottage, not a tent, something between—this works. Teignmouth beach is close by; Exeter's cathedral and Dartmoor's footpaths are short drives away.
