Curlew
Tendring
The Colne Estuary stretches out across the horizon from Curlew, a three-storey beach house positioned right on the sea wall. The location draws walkers and birdwatchers—bring binoculars for the estuary's abundant wildlife, or explore the nearby nature reserves. The beach itself is yards away, making it straightforward for swimming, paddling, crabbing or simply walking the shoreline.
Inside, the house sleeps 9 across four bedrooms: two doubles, one with a zip-and-link pair of single beds, and one with a bunk bed. Two bathrooms and a wet room means mornings run smoothly. The open-plan first floor combines a living space with dining and kitchen areas, all facing the water through patio doors that open to a balcony. A separate games room on the ground floor has table football, TV and streaming services. The utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer. Essentials including Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are covered. One dog stays free.
This is a place to settle into seaside rhythms—to watch the light change on the estuary through the day, to spot herons and curlews from the windows, or to head straight out for whatever the tide offers. A private parking space holds two cars. No smoking indoors.
