About Wethercote Farm Campsite
Tucked into the farmland fringing the North York Moors National Park, Wethercote Farm is a peaceful spot with sweeping open views and the atmospheric ruins of Rievaulx Abbey just an hour's walk away. The working beef, sheep and arable farm keeps things lively—expect Herdwick lambs frolicking in spring and friendly farm dogs pottering about. Pitches are scattered across the fields, some commanding excellent views, with firepits available on a first-come basis.
Facilities include a clean shower and toilet block (hot water and composting loos), a washing-up shed, and drinking-water taps dotted around the site. Reviewers consistently praise the welcoming owners and fair prices, while cyclists appreciate easy access to riding routes and the national park. Well-behaved dogs are welcome year-round but must stay on leads. Helmsley and Thirsk, both fifteen minutes by car, offer supermarkets and characterful country pubs with proper menus—ideal for stocking up or treating yourself after a day's walking.

What visitors say
What a gem of a site. Scenery was beautiful facilities were spotless and plentiful as in; inside washing up area, freezer for all to use, electric point for electric bike, BBQ/firepit to borrow (small charge for wood and electric for bike charging). Compost toilet and normal toilet. Lovely owner Fliss made us feel so welcome. Ideal location for Sutton Bank cycle centre and cycle routes.

Great little site with adequate facilities for the number of pitches. Flat, grass standing with excellent views but a little exposed if its windy. Hads no rooms hence no star.

I wanted a peaceful night and found it at Wethercote farm campsite. I felt very welcome and had a few interesting conversations with the lady looking after everything. It wasn't busy when I stayed so I was able to choose a pitch and parked up next to the field where sheep and ducks provided much entertainment! I chose to use the compost loo and off grid shower which were both pleasant and worked well. I bought half a dozen lovely fresh eggs too. Thanks!

Wonderful little campsite, perfect for cyclists/walkers on the Cleveland Way. Good shower, standard £10 a night, a covered area to wash pots, and access to a power point to charge things. The grass was mowed, and there are picnic tables available. If I'm going through, I'll definitely stay again. It's definitely a working farm, so I'd recommend earplugs for a good sleep.
