Halfway House

This 17th-century building began life as a public house and retains the character of that era while offering three bedrooms across two floors. Halfway House sleeps six guests in a semi-detached property with parking for two cars on site. One small pet is welcome. The ground floor holds a living room with an electric woodburner, dining room, kitchen with full cooking facilities, utility room with washing machine, a sun room, and separate toilet. Upstairs, bedroom one has a king bed, bedroom two another king bed, and bedroom three offers two single beds. A shower room with cubicle serves the upper floor. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are provided, and the heating is gas central.

The house sits close to Brixham's working harbour and seafaring heritage. An enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and bike storage opens from the property; note there are four steps leading into this outdoor space. From various points inside and in the garden, you can see across Torbay. Berry Head Nature Reserve, home to Napoleonic forts and greater horseshoe bats, lies nearby, as does Shoalstone, the Art Deco saltwater lido a quarter-mile away popular with swimmers, climbers and walkers. Torquay is reachable by ferry, while boat trips run to Dartmouth upriver. The locality suits families wanting to combine coastal days with access to Dartmoor and the broader region's attractions.
