About Abingdon House
Abingdon House suits visitors after a relaxed, no-frills base for exploring the English Riviera rather than a big hotel experience. This five-room B&B on Avenue Road in Torquay is family-run, and that shows in the personal feel of the place, from breakfast each morning to the option of staying in for dinner rather than heading out.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in the room, and free WiFi throughout, while a bar and restaurant on-site mean there's no need to go far for a meal or an evening drink. Free on-site parking is a practical bonus for anyone arriving by car, and 24-hour reception adds a bit of flexibility for odd arrival times.
Torquay's beaches and attractions are within easy reach, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes, along with nearby pubs, restaurants and watersports for those wanting more active days out. It's a straightforward, well-run choice for a seaside stay in Devon.

What guests say
The hotel was ideally located, easy to get to, and offered free parking—something many other hotels in the area charge for. It was also within easy walking distance of the sea and key attractions, including the Torre Abbey art exhibition and gardens, which are well worth a visit. The room was comfortable, well laid out, warm, and inviting, and equipped with everything you might need for a pleasant stay. The attention to detail was impressive, with thoughtful touches such as a small tabletop refrigerator for milk and additional USB charging points. There was also a welcoming communal area with a bar where guests could relax. The owners were exceptionally friendly, and we spent some memorable time chatting with them. They were very knowledgeable about the local area and offered excellent recommendations for places to eat. Breakfast was superb, with an extensive selection available. You could choose whatever you fancied at the time, and the quality and variety were truly impressive.

Lovely place to stay, the hosts, Shona and Billy, made us feel at home. The attention to every detail in the place was very touching. The rooms and the cleanliness were perfect. The location is very central, close to the town centre. The breakfast was personalised, and they are very good at accommodating every diet choice. I can't thank them enough! Highly recommend it.
