About Anchorage Hotel & Spa

Torquay's stretch of the English Riviera is well suited to a straightforward seaside break, and Anchorage Hotel & Spa sits on Aveland Road within reach of the coast, golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes, along with nearby pubs and restaurants for evenings out. With 56 rooms, a spa and an outdoor swimming pool, it's built for guests who want facilities on hand without straying far from base.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and drinks available on request, with family and accessible rooms among the options. Some rooms are better kept than others, so it's worth bearing in mind that presentation can vary. There's a lift for easier access, free WiFi throughout, and free on-site parking along with an electric vehicle charge point for those driving down.

The restaurant serves breakfast and meals for both adults and children, with a bar stocked at reasonable prices, though the food itself tends towards the plain rather than adventurous. Staff are consistently described as helpful, and there's a garden and outdoor seating for relaxing between excursions. Pets are welcome, and luggage storage and room service are both available for guests settling in for a longer stay.

Had a two night stay, very friendly and welcoming receptionist. My room and bathroom were very clean, very comfy bed had a great night's sleep. Meals were great with a good buffet breakfast. Staff were brilliant, cheerful and very helpful. The hotel is well located in a lovely area just a short walk from Babbacombe with a good bus service into Torquay. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely return.

All staff are amazingly helpful and friendly, really make you feel welcome. Our room was a good size with comfy beds, tv etc. Ensuit also good size with a shower that maintained your selected temperature. Breakfast offers all the usual and plenty of it. The sea front and beach are just a stroll away, we also caught the bus into Torquay from just up the road. Thank you to all at the Anchorage for a wonderful relaxing break.

Negatives: the wardrobe in the room stunk of mold. To the point that you couldn’t open it. And room stunk of it also. I can’t believe that management wouldn’t remove that old piece of unusable furniture. I couldn’t sleep because of the smell. The positives: The location is good. The receptionist friendly. Breakfast is average but sufficient.

Genuinely warm reception from the staff. Specifically the receptionist (and chef/kitchen staff) who went out of her way to ensure we could get a meal as we were late ordering. The burger I'd ordered was exceptional. Places that claim to be burger joints pale in comparison to what the chef/kitchen staff cooked up here. Thank you so much, keep up the good work
