About Crofton House Hotel
Torquay's mix of beaches, coastal walks and watersports makes it a popular base on the Devon coast, and Crofton House Hotel offers an adults-only stay on Croft Road within easy reach of the seafront and local attractions. The hotel is built around its leisure facilities, with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room available alongside an outdoor pool and garden with seating for warmer days.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks provided, and free WiFi, and guests generally find them warm and comfortable, though some rooms and facilities can show signs of wear rather than being kept in top condition throughout. Staff are consistently noted as friendly and helpful, which goes some way to balancing this. A restaurant and bar operate on site, breakfast is included, and packed lunches can be arranged, while a games room and 24 hour reception add to the practical side of a stay.
Free on-site parking is available, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes, plus pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out. It suits those after a straightforward, well-located stay in Torquay with leisure facilities on hand.
What guests say
This was a fantastic find when travelling down the South Coast. The service is excellent, and the place is very clean. There is a sauna, steam room, and a cute heated indoor pool. The WiFI in our room was fatanstic. There are high ceilings and period-piece common areas. The price was very cheap for the place, service, and facilities. I would definitely recommend.

My partner booked this hotel for my 40th and what a disappointment. We had the Torbay suite, the curtains where hanging down, a massive crack in our sink and one of windows would not close so we got woken up at 6.30am in the morning. There was stains on the table tops and the double bed was 2 singles put together. The swimming pool was absolutely freezing and the jacuzzi + hot tube didn't work. The breakfast they offer is a pot noodle and the garden is very over grown The best bit about the hotel was leaving and when I tired to get a refund, they refused and didn't say why. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

Absolutely disgusting hotel. The "suite" we had was a basic room. Smelt of mould and stale cannabis. Broken chest of drawers, everything has dirty cup marks on, the nets and curtains were mouldy. Looking out the window was a pile of rubbish and broken doors. Wires hung off the towel heater. No heating in the room and the walls had lots if marks and holes on them. The bed was also uncomfortable. Did not use the pool or facilities as the room was so dirty and run down we didn't want to risk it. The hotel did not seem like a safe place to be and there was never any staff around to speak to.

Very nice but peculiar hotel . On first sight the hotel room looked luxurious and top end however after staying for a few days it was apparent that most of it was face value. For example we had a beautiful roll top bath in our suite but the hot tap wouldn't turn off completely so was constantly dripping very hot water and there was a slow leak in the bath itself so there was always a little water on the floor . The shower was much the same, it looked amazing but trying to use it required a PhD in engineering since some of the knows were missing etc . The pool / wellness area left much to be desired . The pool had a few tiles missing and was very cold (although staff did explain that they had recently refilled the pool and the temp wasn't right yet 🤔) and should be described more as a paddling pool as the deep end is only around waste deep. the jacuzzi is pretty much part of the pool and is also freezing cold . The sauna and steam room weren't even switched on even though we let staff know we intended to use them and was told he would switch everything on so it was ready. The outdoor pool although closed (as advertised) it looked awful . The water is green and the whole area is completely run down . The communal areas of the hotel are either beautiful or run down . It's almost like two hotels under one roof . Some of the other 'guests' looked like they lived there so im unsure if they offer rooms to homeless people. However with all this said the hotel was very clean , the bed was very comfortable and the staff were mostly helpful . For the price it was a nice stay and we would definitely stay again
