A budget-friendly hotel on Babbacombe Road in Torquay, with a bar, breakfast and comfortable beds, though the fittings show their age.

About The Burlington Hotel

A bar on site and breakfast each morning give The Burlington Hotel a straightforward, no-fuss appeal, with packed lunches and in-room drinks available for guests who want extra flexibility during a seaside break. The hotel sits on Babbacombe Road in Torquay, within reach of the English Riviera's coastline and the wider attractions of the area.

Rooms are en-suite, with family options available and comfortable beds that guests consistently rate well. The wider building is showing its age in places, with some areas feeling dated and in need of upkeep, but the staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, and the overall value for money is a recurring strength. A games room and garden add to the facilities, along with free WiFi and luggage storage for those coming and going during their stay.

Free on-site parking makes it easy to explore further afield, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, cycling and walking routes, along with nearby pubs, restaurants and entertainment. Watersports are also within reach for those wanting to make more of the coastal setting.

Updated review. My review was taken seriously, when I came back to the room all issues had been addressed. Crisp clean beddings everything replenished. I would have to say this hotel does care about the guests and have turned everything around. The price is very very underpriced and I would be happy to pay £50 a night as all issues addressed. Many Thanks WiFi no good in room and little to no mobile signal. So a big don't stay here if you need any internet. Rooms manky but price is cheap so you don't get what you don't pay for. Bin not emptied from last person in the room.very little toilet roll left on roll no spare. No tea bags or milk/creamer in the room so a cup of tea in the room is a no even though it should have. I would say avoid mostly due to being July 2026 near no mobile signal no internet as internet in hotel non usable in the room.

Where to start? 2 nights cost us £140 for 2 adults, this hotel has seen better days, its in need of a full refurbishment, the furniture in the room is very old and worn, the matress you can feel the springs through and when you sit on it you feel the divan base, the divan bases are dirty as is the carpet in the room. The bathroom radiator has paint lifting off it and if you brush past it the paint flakes off in big flakes, the bath has a tap shower, the head is low down so you cant actually take a shower as u cant hold the head and wash properly no shower curtain either, I had to have a bath, when you empty the bath the water backs up to the sink plug hole which then spat black dirt and an odour from out from it as well as a very loud gurgling and vice verser when running the sink tap. As it was hot on the nights we spent we had to have the window open which then you had the noise of the bathroom vents/fan of all the other rooms repetedly going off whe others used their bathroom. We had the choice of being kept awake by noise or be extremely hot as there are no fans in the room. The outdoor area by our window is very overgrown and dilapidated, The restaurant has a high hair for the use of guests children, however this is extremely filthy, this most definitely wouldn't past any hygiene tests if carried out. The one good point is the waitress staff in the restaurant, the food on the other hand, the toast was cold and rubbery from being made in bulk and dished out later, the tea pots have seen better days, the aluminium knob was tarnished and flaking. In the lounge area the chandler had wires exposed and several different styles of bulbs, it is also has very tired decor as is the other areas that we could see. Parking was a nightmare, we in the end managed to find a space on the road quite far from the hotel. All in all not a good experience, most definitely not a good value for money

The in-need-of-refurbishment interior and rooms are something management must consider. The staff were very friendly and helpful - can't fault them. The beds were clean and very comfy. The bathroom was fine. The English breakfast was very tasty but the scrambled eggs need to be done with eggs, not powder. If you're staying for a night or three, this is a good choice. Pleasant lounge room and pool table :)) . The price is much lower than places nearby and I did feeling got good value for money.

Very very dated, but that’s fine! Had a great stay here on a lads weekend recently, can’t really complain. The staff were super friendly and helpful when needed, the rooms despite being very old and in need of some TLC were clean and simple. Certainly cheaper than everywhere else in the area, TV, bed, shower, breakfast included. What more do you want at that price!
