Flaxmans - The Barn

Families and groups of six work well here. The Barn is one of three properties arranged around a courtyard on a north Devon farm near Parkham, and comes with its own entrance and parking. The owner offers guided farm tours where guests can meet the animals, while children have access to a shared play area. A travel cot and highchair are available if you ask.

Three bedrooms spread across two floors: a super king with ensuite bathroom on the ground floor, a double with ensuite shower on the first floor, and two singles sharing a bathroom. Downstairs there's a living room with woodburner (initial logs included), a dining area, and a kitchen fitted with electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave. French doors open onto a patio in the small enclosed courtyard, where there's garden furniture and a barbecue. Air source heating keeps things warm; electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all covered. The surrounding 300 acres of natural grounds are shared with restricted access during livestock grazing.

Coastal villages like Clovelly, Bucks Mills and Hartland are within reach, and Westward Ho! beach is seven miles away. Bideford has restaurants, shops and boat trips to Lundy Island. Local footpaths and riding stables are nearby. A thatched pub in the village is a five-minute walk, or you can collect takeaway. No smoking throughout.
