Libbear Barton - Badger’s House

Photo: Libbear Barton Holidays

Badger's House is one of three converted barns on the Libbear Barton estate, a 40-acre rural property in Torridge. The place comes fully equipped for self-catering: the kitchen has everything needed for cooking proper meals, there's a woodburner for winter evenings, and the essentials—electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi—are all covered. Two cots are available, plus travel cots, highchairs and stairgates on request.

Layout spreads across two floors: a twin bedroom and bathroom downstairs for anyone wanting to avoid stairs, then upstairs two doubles and a triple room (which can be split into a super-king and single). You get the whole place to yourself, with parking for three cars on site. The private garden has seating and a gas barbecue.

What makes a real difference here is access to the shared facilities: a heated swimming pool (bookable in advance, open 9am to 8pm), a games room with pool table and table tennis, a sauna and gym, and a play area for young children. The estate has woodland to explore, a petting farm with miniature donkeys and farm birds, and children's play areas including a mini football pitch. There's a lake 50 yards away. No smoking indoors, please.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, quiet with lots to do including a swimming pool, sauna, gym, outdoor play area, indoor soft play, games room & and option to rent a jacuzzi, which we did. You can also have a petting experience with the owners Max & Alex's adorable miniature donkeys, guinea pigs & rabbits, the ducks & chicken also enjoyed their extra treats. There is also a beautiful lake with geese & fluffy goslings which are spending the summer there & also an enchanting wooded walk. Very relaxing place to stay, which was great for my daughter, son & daughter in law who have very hectic jobs. The cottage itself is very comfortable & cozy, great for a larger family. We definitely recommend Mole End Cottage for the perfect getaway.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 We had an absolutely amazing stay at Libbear Barton! The facilities are fantastic — everything was spotless, comfortable, and so well thought out. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. It truly felt like a home away from home. We can’t recommend Libbear Barton highly enough and would definitely love to return in the future!

We had a lovely week at Libber Barton with our 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter. We really appreciated all the little details and thought that went in to providing amenities for the children which meant we didn't have to bring our whole house on holiday with us! The use of the swimming pool and the animals were great fun and provided us with lots of entertainment. Really enjoyed the wild walk around the property, it was easy to navigate and just the right distance for our 3 year old. All in all a great experience and perfect for what we wanted which was a chilled week out of the city.

We have had a wonderful week staying at Toad Hall. Such a beautiful and comfortable house with so many special features, from the powerful dishwasher and washing machine to the Teddies on the bed, games and books in the cupboards the clotted cream in the fridge to the amazingly well equipped kitchen! The swimming pool was enjoyed by everyone.....and two little granddaughters have now learnt to swim 🙂. The petting farm was a great success and now everyone wants either a miniature donkey or a guinea pig! It was great to see how loved and well looked after the animals are. A special mention to the owners daughter, as she was incredibly friendly and had great knowledge about the animals. Thank you too for the Golden Egg hunt and the chocolate treats. A lovely surprise. This is the second time we have been and it won't be the last. The facilities are great for all ages and the team have already added so much since our previous visit in August.
