Battle sits in the heart of East Sussex countryside, close enough to reach Pevensey Bay's pebble beach and Eastbourne's seafront within a short drive, yet surrounded by quiet rural land. High House Holiday Cottage No 1 is a converted 19th-century barn on the village edge, backing onto the owner's orchard where you can wander between the trees. The whole place is yours alone: a compact, single-storey space with a double bedroom, shower room, and an open-plan living area that combines kitchen, dining and lounge.
The kitchen has what you need to cook properly—electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. A wood-burner and oil central heating keep you warm; electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. There's a sitting-out area with garden furniture overlooking the grounds. Private parking for two cars sits on site. One dog can stay with you at no extra cost, though do note there's a fenced pond in the grounds about five yards from the cottage.
The village pub is less than a mile away. Battle itself, famous for the 1066 battle site, has galleries, cafés and period attractions. Beyond that lie National Trust properties, Glyndebourne opera house, South Downs walks, and a coastal stretch that runs from Eastbourne pier to Beachy Head. A working market town rather than a resort, Battle offers proper local life alongside the holiday infrastructure.
