Kernow Retreats - Phoebe’s Folly
West Devon

Tavistock and the surrounding countryside draw visitors for their market-town charm and proximity to Dartmoor. Phoebe's Folly sits in its own corner of farmland just outside the town, a single shepherd hut where two guests have the whole place to themselves. The setting is genuinely rural—cattle and sheep graze nearby, and rescued Dartmoor ponies occupy an adjacent paddock—yet the hut itself is properly fitted out for comfort rather than roughing it.
Everything is on the ground floor. The open-plan living space has a woodburner, a kitchenette with an electric cooker, a kingsize bed, and a shower room. Outside, a wood-fired hot tub takes two people; there's also a firepit that doubles as a barbecue and a garden with seating. The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, plus tea, coffee and hot chocolate on arrival. Parking for two cars is on site. No smoking inside the hut.
This works for couples wanting to escape into countryside without sacrificing indoor plumbing or a proper kitchen. The hut faces out across patchwork fields, and at night the sky is dark enough to see properly. Days run to toast and views through the open doors; evenings to the firepit and stars.
