The Lodge

West Lothian

View on Google Maps

Linlithgow's position between Edinburgh and Stirling makes it a natural base for exploring either city, yet the town itself has enough character to hold your attention—the historic burgh centres on its palace and loch, with good restaurants and cafes lining the streets. The Lodge sits at the town's edge, where built-up areas give way to farmland and open countryside, close enough to walk into the centre but far enough to feel rural.

This former gatehouse is a single-storey property with two bedrooms sleeping four: one has a super kingsize bed, the other two single beds that zip together into a kingsize if you prefer. The bathroom is finished to a higher standard, with a walk-in double shower. Ground-floor living means no stairs to navigate. The main living space includes a wood-burning stove and smart TV; the dining room seats four, extending to six. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook from scratch, with a dishwasher and washing machine included. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all covered.

Several walking routes start nearby, and country parks dot the area around Linlithgow. Train services run direct to Glasgow and Edinburgh, and the motorway network puts either city within an hour's drive. No smoking inside the property.
