Glenridding sits at the southern tip of Ullswater, where the Lake District's most serious walking terrain begins. Bank End is a detached cottage here, positioned between the village pub and the water itself. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping six across two single beds on the first floor, two more singles downstairs, and a double on the ground floor. Each bedroom has its own ensuite—one with a walk-in shower, one with a bath and shower, one with a cubicle shower.
The living space centres on a wood burner; the kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with an electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. Outside is an enclosed patio with garden furniture and parking for three cars. One well-behaved pet stays free.
What makes the location work is the immediacy of the landscape. Helvellyn and Striding Edge rise directly from the village; you can begin a fell walk from the doorstep. Ullswater itself, with its rowing boats and lakeside paths, is yards away. The nearest pub is within walking distance, and Glenridding has the practical services—shops, cafes—that make a week here manageable without a car. No smoking indoors.
