Brockholes Farm - Riverbank Cottage

Riverbank Cottage suits couples and small families wanting a base near the Lake District without the crowds. It's a detached cottage on a working farm beside the River Lune, with the Howgill Fells rising beyond. The whole property is yours, with two bedrooms (one double, one twin), a wet room, and an open-plan living and dining space that leads to a conservatory and garden. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly—electric oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Heating, electricity, Wi-Fi and bed linen are all included.
The garden has its own patio and furniture, and you can walk across the farm's land or fish the river. One well-behaved dog stays free and can roam the grounds provided it's kept on a lead (sheep graze nearby). There's a shared children's play area and private parking for two cars. The location works well for exploring three national parks within reasonable reach: the Lake District proper, the Yorkshire Dales with their waterfalls and caves, and the North Pennines. Tebay is two miles away and the M6 junction is close by, making this somewhere you could arrive late and leave early. The only practical detail: there is a river running through the grounds.

Can not rate this place highly enough, been twice now and planning a 3rd visit.. Stunning views in every direction. Amazing if you have animal loving children.. only a short drive to windmere, good access from M5 motorway. Chances are, highland cows will be blocking the road in. We all found it funny. Coombe cottage was immaculately clean, very big. 8 of us stayed there and never felt on top of each other. Lovely park just outside the cottage. You almost have full access to the farm in day time which is amazing.. highly recommend

A couple of friends and I had our first stay here just for the weekend. For the price we paid we are amazed with it. The cottage was amazing. Warm and cozy. The beds are so comfy. We had our Farm tour with Kim. She is so friendly and brilliant. We will be returning next year, hopefully for a week!!

Perfect stay with friends at Coombe cottage, the accomodation is ideal for 2 families of 4. Dog friendly too. The cottage was clean and tidy, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The surroundings are breathtaking, right next to the river. The play park was a great hit with our children age 12-14, with plenty of outdoor space to run around and kick a ball. The farm experiences were fantastic for all ages, we particularly loved feeding the Highland Cattle. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you

Spacious cottage with beautiful views over the river! We went on the farm tour and capybara experience with Anna and we absolutely loved it! Seeing the animals up close and learning about them was amazing! Anna was so lovely! We also did a little river walk! The dinosaur play area was a hit with our children! Lots to explore within half an hour of the farm too! We would definitely stay again, loved every minute! Thank you ❤️
