Clematis Cottage
Westmorland and Furness
Church Brough sits in walking country where the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and North Pennines converge. The village itself is quiet, set below its church on a bridleway where wildlife outnumbers vehicles. Clematis Cottage occupies a stone-built former coach house from the early 1700s, distinguishable by exposed beams, deep stone windowsills and curved walls that give it genuine character.
The layout is open plan downstairs, with kitchen and dining space flowing into a comfortable sitting area. A wood-burning stove and TV provide focal points for evenings. Large doors open onto a courtyard with seating and garden furniture; there's also a shared back garden. Upstairs is one bedroom with an ensuite shower—the bed is a zip-and-link super king that can be separated into two singles on request. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. The kitchen is properly equipped for people who like to cook, and there's a utility room with tumble dryer outside.
A pub sits within a mile. Parking for one car is on site. The property is adults-only and smoke-free, with steps in the garden to be aware of. This is somewhere to base yourself for serious walking or quieter time in the Pennines and Dales.
