Clifford Courtyard

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Clifford Courtyard is a period stone cottage in the Eden Valley village of Brough, near Kirkby Stephen. Built with the solidity of its era, it sits in a rural pocket of Cumbria surrounded by fells and farmland, yet close enough to local shops and cafés for everyday needs. The One Stop is within walking distance.

Inside, the ground floor is one flowing space with a living area (wood-burning stove, Smart TV), dining zone and kitchen equipped for real cooking—electric oven, proper fridge, washing machine. Two bedrooms upstairs: one with a double bed (4ft 6in), one with two singles (3ft). A single bathroom with bath and shower. Electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and wood for the burner are all covered. There is private parking for two cars on site, plus garden furniture on the front patio; a step leads into the garden.

Brough Castle dominates the village skyline—its riverside ruins make for good walking country. The River Swindale and the Pennine Way run nearby, drawing walkers and cyclists. Kirkby Stephen, a ten-minute drive away, has a market-town character with independent shops, tearooms and pubs, plus access to the Settle–Carlisle Railway for its famous limestone-country views. The Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines and Scotch Corner are all within easy reach. No smoking inside.
