Everything happens on a single storey—living space, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are all reached without steps. The cottage stands next to the owner's home and looks out across private gardens to the rear, with open grounds to the front; an enclosed patio and courtyard provide outdoor space. One bedroom with a kingsize bed and one bathroom serve two guests comfortably.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The living area has a sofa bed (for flexible sleeping), Freeview Smart TV and electric fire. Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all covered. Wi-Fi is available throughout, and one car can be parked on site. One well-behaved pet can stay at no extra charge. Smoking is not permitted inside.
Kendal itself lies about a mile away, where shops and pubs cluster; restaurants are a mile and a half distant. The cottage sits within reach of several national attractions: Lake Windermere and the Lake District are a short drive south, while the Eden Valley lies to the north. Hadrian's Wall country and the Westmorland Dales (part of Yorkshire Dales National Park) are both accessible for day trips. The nearest beach is 9 miles away.

We chose this location as it sits neatly between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. We wanted to visit both areas and the cottage's proximity to major roadways was ideal but removed enough that noise was not a problem. The local village boasts an outstanding bakery where breakfast rolls are large and delicious! Supermarkets are only a few minutes drive away also. The Cottage was on one level, very nicely laid out and well furnished and equipped for self-catering. The bathroom was excellent, spacious and located next to the bedroom which had a large comfortable bed and plenty of storage. The kitchen was very well laid out and we had everything we needed and the dining and lounge area was equal spacious. The TV was good quality although we did have a glitch with the dvd player freezing but we were able to use WiFi and to screen cast direct from my phone instead. There was a small courtyard out back which would have been lovely if the weather had been a little kinder; and a grassy garden out the front. Our dog wasn't so keen on the courtyard and wanted to use the grassy bit, not a problem, just meant being a little more organised. We had a soggy but wonderful week of walking and exploring some of England's most beautiful sites and historic locations. The Cottage's owners were considerate and friendly and all in all we were extremely happy with the accommodation and would gladly book again!
