Near Sawrey sits between Lake Windermere and Hawkshead, close to Esthwaite Water. The village is walkable terrain for exploring the Lake District, with footpaths and cycle routes starting practically at the gate. A pub is less than a mile away, serving food and local ales. The area has literary connections—Beatrix Potter's Hill Top house is nearby and inspired much of her work.

Gardeners Cottage is a detached property on a small courtyard, all on one level. Inside: an open plan living and dining space with a Freeview TV, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking (electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, breakfast bar), a double bedroom, and a shower room. Two Velux windows flood the interior with daylight. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are included. There's private parking for one car outside. A washing machine is available in a shared outhouse. The cottage does not allow smoking.

This works well for a couple wanting a quiet base to walk and cycle from, or simply to stay put. The village has the feel of somewhere you can properly settle in rather than rush through.
