Howegrain Lodge is a detached stone building on a single level, set in Martindale within the Lake District National Park. The open-plan living space has a multi-fuel burner, French doors onto a balcony dining area, and a kitchen with electric cooking. One bedroom holds a double bed, the other has bunks; there is one shower room. The enclosed courtyard provides an outdoor sitting area. Electricity, bed linen, towels and initial fuel for the burner are included.
The location sits above Ullswater, within walking distance of the water itself. Paths lead directly from the property into the surrounding fells, or you can drive to trailheads further afield—the Ullswater Way runs 11 miles around the lake, and Glenridding, a short drive away, has steamer cruises. A pub and restaurant are 1½ miles away; the nearest shop is 3¾ miles. The lodge does not have wi-fi or a television. Children under 3 are not able to stay, and smoking is not permitted.
