About Ullswater View Campsite
The name gives it away, really – Ullswater View Campsite delivers exactly what it promises, with stunning panoramas across the lake and surrounding fells from its elevated position near Pooley Bridge. This is wild camping at its most back-to-basics: portable loos, water from a natural spring, and logs for your firepit are about as fancy as it gets, so don't expect showers or electricity. The camping field slopes somewhat (all the better for those views), and the track isn't suited to low cars, while the gateway angle means you'll need to reverse in after turning around.
But if you're after an authentic off-grid escape, the setting more than compensates. Dogs are welcome on leads, a cosy pub serving decent food sits just ten minutes' walk away, and Ullswater's watersports lie five minutes' drive down the road. Penrith's shops are twenty minutes away when supplies run low. Light a fire as dusk falls and watch the lake shimmer – it's a Lake District experience that feels genuinely wild.

Your small minded views on larger people’s abilities to walk is disgustingly ignorant! You don’t have to be over weight to not be able to fit in a dressing gown. You can be too muscular to not fit in a standard size!!! Saved us spending money here now! Will be looking elsewhere for a nice place to stay. Somewhere that isn’t size-ist!!!!

Recently stayed here it being changed to a holiday let. The house was lovely and had a hotel/b&b theme to the bedrooms which was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the amenities of the house was excellent. Lots of lovely walks available from the house. Overall we had a lovely stay, so much in fact I loved to book the same week next year but unfortunately the price for next year it’s far too expensive and I can go abroad for the same cost, which is a shame!

Just spent 3 nights at this lovely guest house. Room spotless and housekeeping available every day if required. Julie and her staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice. Lovely view of lake and mountains from bedroom window and from the guest house's conservatory. Location great. Julie and her staff obviously work very hard to maintain such a high standard. Would highly recommend this guest house.

A fantastic guest house that we would fully recommend. Everything has been decorated and furnished with high quality, staff are excellent and food is very well presented. The rooms are excellent, the lounge area and the outside seating are perfect. A great place to use as a base before you explore the surrounding Ullswater lake and hills.
