This corner of Westmorland and Furness draws walkers year-round, with fell routes and valley paths accessible within minutes of the village. The immediate surroundings are quieter than Ambleside's busier streets, though the town's shops, restaurants and boat launches are a short drive away.

Mill Brow Retreat is a one-bedroom annex on its own, with private parking for one car. Downstairs, an open-plan room contains the living space, dining area and kitchen in one; the kitchen has an electric hob, combi microwave and grill, air fryer, and fridge-freezer, so you can cook proper meals or keep things simple. A smart TV and electric fire make the living area comfortable for quieter evenings. Upstairs in the attic are a double bedroom and an ensuite shower room with heated towel rail. The sloped ceilings add character but do dip low in places, so tall guests should mind their heads.

Electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen and towels are included. One well-behaved pet stays free. The property is non-smoking. Check-in is after 16:00 and checkout before 10:00.
