Mirfield

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Mirfield is a stone semi-detached cottage built into the fell-side landscape of Kirkby Thore, a village in the northern Eden Valley. The house has real character: downstairs, the living room centres on a working woodburner with books and games to hand, while a separate sun room looks out through French doors onto the garden and the slopes beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine and air fryer. Upstairs are three bedrooms—a king-size, a double, and a third with bunks—all positioned to catch views of the surrounding fells.

The property sleeps six and comes with bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating included; initial fuel for the woodburner is also provided. There is private parking for two cars and a garden with patio and BBQ. One small dog is welcome at no extra cost. The cottage does not permit smoking. Garden access involves five steps, which guests should be aware of.

Kirkby Thore sits well for exploration: Dufton has walking routes up High Cup Nick and a pub nearby, while Langwathby station connects to the scenic Carlisle to Settle railway line. The sandstone caves at Lacy's known locally, Long Meg stone circle and the northern reaches of the Lake District are all within reach for day trips.
