Old Chapel

Westmorland and Furness

View on Google Maps

Two couples or a small family will find Old Chapel a practical base for exploring the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and surrounding countryside. This former 19th-century chapel occupies the ground floor of a converted building and comes with its own entrance, a sizeable open-plan living area, two double bedrooms and one bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. The essentials—electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi—are covered.

The property opens onto views across the Lyth Valley from the dining and sitting areas, and a private patio looks out toward fields behind. Levens Village Shop is 100 yards away, with a pub and restaurant a short walk off. The house itself is in the foothills of a walking-rich landscape; nearby attractions include Levens Hall with its topiary gardens and Sizergh Castle. Lake Windermere lies ten minutes' drive away, and you're just beyond the Lake District National Park boundary. The West Cumbrian Coast, Arnside and Silverdale, and the market towns of Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are all within reach. On-site parking is available for one car. No smoking inside.
