You arrive at Sharrow Cottage to find a split-level property with three bedrooms distributed across the first floor, and the main living spaces below. Ground floor rooms include a living and dining area with woodburner and smart TV, a second sitting room with Freeview, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, utility space with laundry facilities, and a separate toilet. The first floor holds a bedroom with a super kingsize bed, two further bedrooms with single beds, and a bathroom with both bath and walk-in shower. Throughout the cottage, bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are provided, so you need only bring yourselves.

The elevated garden overlooks Ullswater and the surrounding farmland—note there are five steps down to it, and the split-level landing requires care. One dog is welcome (kept on a lead, as sheep graze nearby) and stays free. A car parking space sits on site. The cottage suits families or groups of six, and those who want to walk, though the ground floor layout and number of steps mean mobility may need considering. Howtown Landing's steamer jetty is a 15-minute walk away; the wider Lake District—Aira Force waterfall, woodland trails, Helvellyn and High Street—lies close by. No smoking indoors.
