The Gatehouse sits on the edge of Levens Hall's grounds near Kendal, with woodland paths leading down to the shore of Lake Windermere. It's a traditional cottage arranged on one level, sleeping six across three bedrooms—a kingsize in the first with its own shower room, a second kingsize with a TV, and a third with two singles that link together. There's a family bathroom with a bath and shower, plus a separate toilet.
The kitchen has an electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, opening into a dining room where most of the cooking happens. The living room has a woodburner, TV and DVD player. An enclosed garden surrounds the property, with lawn to both front and back, and you can park two cars on site. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One well-behaved pet is welcome.
Ambleside lies within walking distance, though it's closer by car. The setting is rural—sheep fields and mature woodland are immediate neighbors—but the location gives you access to both fell walking and the lake itself. The cottage suits families or groups wanting a self-contained base rather than somewhere with daily changeovers or shared facilities. No smoking indoors.

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago with family. Really nice cottage and loads of space. Bedrooms a really good size. Lovely kitchen and dining area where we could spend time together. It would of been 5 star but unfortunately it does need a fair bit of tlc and touch ups on it. Plus the sofa was broken and the heating came on at random times. Although we did message and try get this sorted it was still hit and miss. They did prove us with a heater though.
