Low Wray Campsite (National Trust)

Thank you for such a fantastic stay! From the moment we arrived until we packed up to leave, everything was spot on. The facilities were impressively clean no matter what time of day we used them (which, with a young child, was at some very random hours!). The pitches had plenty of space between them, so it never felt overcrowded, and the whole site was peaceful and well looked after. A special mention to the staff, who were genuinely friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. The fresh croissants from reception each morning were the perfect way to start the day—dangerously good! And the pizzas... let's just say we may have come for the camping, but we'd happily come back for the pizza alone. Thank you for making our family break so enjoyable. We left with great memories, a well-fed family, and only one complaint... we had to go home! We'll definitely be back.

I can’t recommend this place enough. A truly beautiful spot! It might just be one of the best campsites in the UK! Everywhere was so lush and green, and even if you don’t have a lake view, it was still absolutely stunning. The pods were really comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was second to none, perfect for exploring Windermere lake, Ambleside, Grasmere, and so many beautiful hiking trails.

Fantastic campsite, we’ve been coming here for several years and the lakeside views are unbeatable. We’ve had great trips every time, surrounded by nature and wildlife, a perfect place to unwind. Nomad pizzas are great and we indulge in the lovely pastries sold from reception in the mornings - staff are also very helpful and accommodating. We’ll continue coming back here for our next trips to the Lake District!

Unfortunately despite booking a 'lakeside spot' the pitch we were given was a good 7m away from the water, and instead had a view of the cars! If you book one of those make sure to request that it isn't pitch 205 😁. The choice to use wood chips/stones to mark out pitches meant that despite the surrounding area being lovely and green with grass everywhere, the campsite was incredibly grey. There was somehow no greenery over the forest floor - whether it has been weeded out I am not sure. I'm sure in the summertime once the trees are all out this will be a bit better, however I was a bit surprised at the choice. The campers were nice and quiet overnight and it was lovely to hear the birds. I will note that the road on the other side of the lake remains very busy and the sound carries over, so it does not feel particularly 'rural'. The facilities were basic, but not overly unclean, and the showers were hot. For a standard campsite, it wouldn't have been bad, but given the price and the fact it was National Trust I was expecting a lot better.
