The Millbarn is a one-bedroom converted barn on the banks of the Lowther, within the Lake District National Park. Approached down a 50-metre track from the owner's 18th-century cottage, it retains original beams and period character throughout. The river frontage is yours alone to use during your stay, and fishing is possible directly from the garden—though you'll need to arrange your own licence and permit.
Downstairs is an open-plan living and dining space with a working woodburner, freeview television and a kitchen equipped to cook proper meals. Upstairs, a double bedroom and shower room complete the layout. Essentials like bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are included. A washing machine and freezer are available on request. There is parking for one car on site, and a pub sits within a mile. The stairs are narrow and steep.
This suits two people wanting to walk or fish, or simply to sit by moving water without crowds. Penrith and Windermere are reachable by car, but the real pull is stepping straight outside into countryside.
