The Reading Room

The Reading Room comes ready for a stay with electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi included. Both bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that split into twins if needed. Downstairs there's a kitchen with an induction hob and dishwasher, a living area with a smart TV and electric woodburner, and a utility room with a washer-dryer. The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment and a heated towel rail. There's parking for one car on site, a garden with furniture, and a welcome pack when you arrive.

Askham is a village in the Lake District with several advantages of location. The Queen's Head pub is close by, as is Askham Hall with its Michelin-starred restaurant. Lowther Castle and Estate, with forested grounds and heritage trails, is nearby; bicycles can be hired there. Aira Force waterfall sits in woodland on the banks of Ullswater. Penrith is a short drive away. One thing to note: the first-floor bedroom has a low doorway. No smoking is permitted in the cottage. One well-behaved pet can stay free.
