Water Howes Cottage

Westmorland and Furness

Ambleside sits at the head of Lake Windermere, surrounded by walking routes that lead in every direction. The town itself bustles with independent shops and cafes, while the water brings ferries, rowing boats and the kind of open-air activity that draws people back year after year. Water Howes Cottage occupies a quiet street within easy reach of all this—close enough to the action, removed enough to feel like a proper retreat.

The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: a king on the first floor, a double on the second, and two singles also upstairs. Two bathrooms serve the property, one on the ground floor with a shower cubicle, one upstairs with both bath and walk-in shower. The living space centres on a kitchen large enough for cooking and gathering, with a dining area and a separate sitting room warmed by a multi-fuel burner. An enclosed patio garden sits to the back. Essentials including electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen and towels are all covered; the kitchen comes fully equipped for self-catering, and a travel cot and highchair are available if needed. On-site parking for one car is included, with a permit for a second space nearby.

This suits families taking a Lakes break, or two couples looking to share, equally well. A short stroll brings you to Windermere's edge and the stepping-stones into town. No smoking inside.
