A Weston-super-Mare hotel near the Grand Pier known for its generous Sunday carvery and steak nights, with rooms that can feel dated.

About The York Hotel

A Sunday carvery and a dedicated steak night have become the main draw at The York Hotel, with kitchen staff turning out well-portioned, satisfying plates from a kitchen stocked with modern equipment. The bar and restaurant are backed up by attentive, friendly staff, and prices throughout are reasonable rather than inflated for the seaside setting.

Bedrooms are en-suite, with family rooms available and some enjoying sea views, plus drinks available in room and a lift for easier access to upper floors. It's worth knowing that maintenance in some rooms hasn't always kept pace with the rest of the hotel, so don't expect everything to be pristine. Breakfast is included, and free WiFi, luggage storage and meeting rooms cover the practical side of a stay.

The hotel sits close to the beach and the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings out. Cycling and walking routes are within reach, along with golf, fishing and watersports for those wanting to fill the day before heading back for dinner.

We stayed at The York towards the end of April for my Mums 80th birthday. There were 19 of us. The service we received was second to none. Check in was painless they were all prepared. We booked the restaurant for the Friday night, we did send over menu choices before hand, everyone had a fabulous meal, they put up some decorations and really made a fuss of Mum. One person that made everything so special was Bee!!! She is a credit to the hotel and we will be back. Her energy and enthusiasm for her guests shone that weekend. Thank you Bee!! X

Clean sheets n towels. alright for 1 night overnight stay but wouldnt go back. breakfast was charged as extra and didnt look to good for price. damp patch down wall in room. bed looked onto bathroom almost facing the loo! dirty carpets downstairs. staff seemed pleasant enough but another friend was staying there & he was told they didnt do breakfast ! room smelt. no liner in the bin under kettle or a tray or box to empty teabags into when making a drink, so coffee teaall over the dresser . shower was hot n cold (electric shower). not a bad stay, due to locstion, but just wasnt worth the price they charge in my opinion and then they wanted extra for breakfast .breakfast room was empty all but one table.. lot of food wasted on hot plates - put us off paying extra for it .went elsewhere.

Amazing venue for a family gathering! Organised Mum's 80th birthday weekend there in April. Rooms were great! Food was amazing! Location was brilliant! And Staff were fabulous, and very friendly..!! Bea looked after us, and nothing was too much. Really felt like we were all on a proper holiday together. Mum and Dad got to see us all for the whole weekend (5 daughter's, 4 son-in-laws, all the grandchildren and their partners).. Weather was super warm and sunny, and the shopping centre (thankfully), only a short walk away for everyone who packed for winter, lol.. Family time together - Priceless ❤️ Looking forward to going back there soon..

We stopped for food at the resturant and were blown away with the quality and portion size. Highly recommend the sea food platter. The staff were so friendly and helpful, even though they must have been exhausted after a busy bank holiday weekend. They even went out of thier way to help with getting the pram to the toilet, and going to the table to ask my partner if she needed hot water for the bottle. Highly recommend.

Diners like this hotel's delicious and well-portioned food, including the Sunday carvery and steak night, and appreciate the variety of modern equipment. They also highlight the friendly and attentive staff, the reasonable prices, and the convenient location near the beach and pier.

Some reviews mention the rooms can be poorly maintained.
