About Alexandra Hotel
For travellers who want a proper seaside stay without the scale of a big resort, the Alexandra Hotel offers a small, homely base right on Weymouth's Esplanade. With just 17 rooms, it has the feel of a place run by people who know their guests, and its position on the seafront means many rooms come with sea views over the beach and out to the water.
Rooms are described as spacious and full of character, with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in room, and family and accessible rooms among the options. A continental breakfast is served each morning, and there's a bar on site for an evening drink. Practical extras include free WiFi, 24 hour reception and luggage storage, useful for early arrivals or late departures. Parking can be limited, so it's worth planning ahead if travelling by car.
The beach and Weymouth's amenities are close by, and the area suits those keen on walking, cycling, fishing, watersports or a round of golf, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby too. Corfe Castle is within reach for a day out further afield. It's a straightforward, well-placed hotel for anyone wanting Weymouth's seafront on their doorstep.

Again we have had a fabulous couple of nights staying in this ideally situated hotel. Our room 11 was lovely and clean . The lovely young lady who worked the weekend was very welcoming and helpful. And a credit to your team. We will be back.

For the first time, I’ve stayed in such a poor hotel. The room was shabby, with a stained carpet, and it was extremely noisy because it faces the main road. There was traffic noise throughout the night. The soundproofing was practically non-existent, so you could hear everything from the neighbouring rooms. The breakfast was terrible – very limited, with little more than bread and butter. I definitely would not stay here again.

Just spent a weekend staying here, in one of the superior sea view rooms. I really wasn't sure how I would write this review, so I'll just keep it relatively factual and hopefully to the point. Please keep in mind, that I am framing this review from the perspective of the price we paid (which honestly, wasn't that much! for a weekend). TLDR version; very clean, welcoming hotel which is very pleasant and well located. Unfortunately noise, light, and bed comfort led to broken sleep which interrupted an otherwise faultless experience. Long version: The good: - First thing that should be mentioned is the staff. Honestly, they could NOT have been more helpful, welcoming, or friendly. They genuinely did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and were very accommodating. When I did not turn up for breakfast one morning (which I prepaid for) for example, they even went so far as to phone me to offer to keep it open or refund me if I wasn't planning on turning up. I've never known another hotel to do this! - The hotel has got onsite parking, although limited to only a handful of cars which must be pre-booked. It is a very tight squeeze, and I probably wouldn't recommend it for anyone with a big 4x4 like I did as you will likely end up not being able to get out, or will block someone else in. But, if you have a small car - it's wonderful being able to park on site if you plan to do a lot of travelling about like we did out of Weymouth. I'm sure you could ask nicely and they'll let you drop bags off, and then move to a free permitted parking area. - The location is really quite convenient. Very close to the high street for restaurants and cafes and shops, right on the beachfront, close to the fort (especially in the summer if the ferry was running across the harbour). - The room was spacious. Immaculately clean. And the bathroom featured a large shower that had plenty of very hot water with good pressure. It seemed pretty recently renovated as well. The room had a bottle of water, and all the usual things you'd expect from a hotel as well which is always nice. The not so nice: And it really pains me to write these, as otherwise I could not fault my stay. Really, at the price point, most things could easily be forgiven except for these things. - Noise. The walls between the rooms are incredibly thin. To the point where I could make out distinct words of conversation being had in the next room over. On valentines day weekend, you can imagine what sort of things we could hear in an evening - in very very intimate detail. We didn't really want to have our TV on either to cover the noise; as we could tell that it was mounted on the wall adjacent to the room on the other side's bed so didn't wish to disturb them. I don't know what goes in to soundproofing or deadening the walls; but it really would be worthwhile looking in to. - The windows. This perhaps is a problem unique to our room on the top floor, but the lack of curtains (only blinds) meant that in the morning very little light was kept out. And less easy to address would be the single glazing (I think it was - and presumably due to being a listed building I imagine) did let in a lot of sound from the fairground opposite and the repetitive songs played on the merry go round organ right outside. If you wake up at a normal time perhaps this isn't a problem. - The mattress really was particularly uncomfortable. It offered very little in the way of support. And this perhaps is the only unforgiveable thing we experienced. Which is a shame, as everything else was perfectly nice and comfortable and welcoming in the room.

Great location and service. The staff were very helpful and made us feel at home. Parking can be tricky during busy seasons.
