Bagdale Hall dates from 1516, built for the Conyers family, one of Whitby's most prominent historic households, and stands in the centre of town within walking distance of the harbour and beach. The hotel now spans three connected period buildings: the original Old Hall, the Georgian townhouse Crab Hall, and Lobster Hall, a former school, each retaining its own character and period features.
The Heritage Kitchen restaurant, open Tuesday to Saturday, serves lunch and dinner drawing on the building's history, and breakfast is offered as a cooked or continental option each morning. Booked in late Sunday evening as I was in a bit of a tricky situation and couldn't get home. Staff were most welcoming and engaging and I managed to get a room with breakfast included. The room was very nice and more than met my needs. Plenty of options for breakfast. Highly recommended and thank you

Perfect location, only a few metres to the harbour. Lovely room we stayed in the annex of Crab Hall), bed was very comfortable, huge bathroom with a bath, toiletries and a good selection of tea/coffee. Cannot comment on food as we didnt stay for breakfast.

This is a beautiful and historic hotel. Room 4 was spacious with a huge bed and the usual furniture plus sofa, chair and table. Everything was clean and the bathroom is a good size. There's a view of the abbey too. We had lovely breakfasts with plenty of choice on the cooked menu plus a buffet. They also offer the famous Whitby kippers which are supplied by Fortunes. The hotel is located near to the town centre and the walk is on the flat. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely a memorable place to stay.

Had a lovely stay in room 4 in the old hall. Great service from the staff and great customer care. So glad the restaurant is now back open, we had a lovely meal and also breakfast. Exceptionally well kept historical building. Well worth a stay and will return.
