About Esklet Guest House

Whitby's clifftop Abbey and winding old streets draw visitors year-round, and Crescent Avenue offers a quiet base from which to explore them. Esklet Guest House occupies a late-Victorian home on this residential street, giving guests a traditional setting within easy reach of the town's attractions.

The eight guestrooms keep to a classic style in keeping with the building's character, and each day starts with a cooked breakfast included in the stay. Free WiFi is available throughout, and reception operates around the clock, so arrival times are flexible. Free on-site parking is a genuine plus in a town where street parking can be difficult to find.

Whitby itself is the main draw, from the Abbey ruins to the harbour and beach below, all within walking distance of the guest house. Esklet Guest House suits those who want straightforward, comfortable lodging rather than extensive facilities, with the town's sights doing the rest of the work.

I made a very late booking (one day before my stay) and I was fortunate to find this place, which has an affordable rate and a good location close to the beach and in a quiet neighbourhood. The owner is friendly and helpful and the room is clean and comfortable. The only "challenge" we faced was the parking of our rental car. The owner gave us a parking disc, which we had to display in our car in order to take advantage of the "free parking" along the street, but the street parking was constantly full. We were very lucky to find an empty spot after roaming the street up and down several times. If we could not get a spot along the street, we also had an option of parking in the nearby West Cliff car park or North Terrace car park, but we would have to pay for parking charges.

Greeted by a lovely couple, whom showed me to the room. Really nice and friendly. Room is very clean and nicely decorated, with en-suite. Location is at the top of Whitby, 2 mins away, with fantastic views , including, places to eat and drink. Whitby town itself, is a 5 minute walk away. This guest house, is a hidden gem. Highly recommended.

Great family size room and great location to centre of whitby, had a mini fridge and tea and coffee facilities. A few minors, struggled to find a parking spot, the pull out bed mattress wasn't the cleanest, the bathroom ceiling had spiders all over it, hair in the shower and cobwebs in the corners, shower was very loud just hope I didn't wake anyone up. Didn't see any owners while we were there.
